One last chat with Jordan Greer

After a season which ended in the most amazing and dramatic fashion, Central will unfortunately have to part ways with one of last seasons most consistent performers. Jordan Greer made 23 league appearances in the promotion campaign, only 4 Central players can say they spent more time on the pitch. Therefore, it only felt right to have a chat with the left wing back and get some final thoughts on not only how the season went, but also his plans for the future and what he thinks of Centrals.

The first thing I wanted to know was why Greer has decided to leave central, however it was not by choice or for some more sun down south. As well as, seeking to find out how long Jordan has been playing his home games at Wright Robinson College.

"I've got a new job starting down in Surrey next week, so i'm moving all of my stuff out of Manchester this weekend. I joined central at the start of the season, a couple of league games in. But it feels like longer because of how far the team has come in that time to be honest."

Therefore, I then wanted to know what Jordan will miss most about Manchester as a city, having had to swap the city known for football and music, for a city known for cricket and believe it or not... the first ever recorded game of baseball. And it seems that the answer is something which is important to everyone.

"I've made some good friends here and love the fact it's so busy, there's always something happening around Manchester. I've been here just over two years and have loved it. The answer is probably; the people i've met."

Following, it only felt right to then ask Jordan what he will miss most about what I imagine has been his second favourite thing about Manchester, Manchester Central. Although Jordan only spent one season here, it seems that the team as a whole has been what he has enjoyed most about his time at Central.

"I think the togetherness of the squad has been so important to what we achieved this season. It resulted in different players having big contributions at crucial stages of games and of the season. We all arrived at different stages of the season but everybody who came in at whatever stage, fitted right in and improved us, which I think is a testament to the characters in there. So I'd say that group mentality is the thing i'll miss most."

The next question was almost always going to have one answer, but I was still interested to hear how Jordan recalled the moment. I asked what his favourite moment was whilst playing for the club.

"It's got to be that final whistle last game of the season. When we all knew we were promoted and the way we did it just added to it, scenes. I won't ever forget that. That's what it's all about."

Although Jordan only scored 1 goal for Central, the game is about far more than just goals, especially for a defender. Which is exactly why I had to ask Jordan what his favourite individual moment was for the club. It's safe to say that it was as important one.

"I could easily say my goal against Oldham Community, because I don't get many, but they chalked it off when they left the league, fuming. But no it'd probably be the pull back for Fuad against Avro. With the importance of it at the time to get us ahead in such a big game."

Even though Jordan will not be here next season, i'm sure he will still be keeping up with how the club is getting on in Division 1. Which is why I thought it was important to ask how he thinks central will get on next season in a tougher league, and the full back was full of praise.

"There's a great group in there at the moment and they've all experienced big games together now with how we did this season. So the character is proven. There are goals in that team at any level, and defensively we've seen games out when we've needed to at times as well. So in my opinion the aim at the start of the season should be for them to challenge on all front. I see no reason why not."

Last but not least, I wanted to know what Jordans plans are in terms of Football when he makes the move down south. And thankfully the defender has already made some early plans to try and ensure he can create more memories on the pitch next season.

"I definitely plan to get a pre-season in down there and see how it falls with work. I've always tried my best to arrange work around match days and training, so i'm hoping i'll be able to do the same. I'll be in touch with some clubs over the next couple of weeks."

Whoever Jordan Greer signs with next season, they are sure to be signing a dedicated and passionate full back with a wonderful left foot. And everyone at Central thanks him for all of his work this season. As well as, wishing him the best of luck for wherever the future takes him, on and off the pitch.
