The dynamic Junior Silva has been named Manchester Central’s player of the month, following his impressive performances over the course of November.

He particularly impressed in Central’s Semi Final win in the Manchester Challenge Trophy, providing two wonderful assists in an excellent all-round performance in a game that saw Central through to the final.

We managed to catch up with Central manager Chris Tomkinson to get his thoughts on Junior’s performances in November, and what he brings to his side.

‘Junior has been really good in the last three games he’s played since returning from his unfortunate wrist injury that he suffered in just the second game of the season. He’s come back and has hit the ground running again, and it’s no coincidence that since his return our last couple of performances have been good.’

We also asked Chris how Silva has stood out in a tough period for the club stating, ‘He has a good understanding of the game. Always asks questions and is always wanting to improve. Junior is an extremely talented player who can play in several positions which is always a bonus.’

‘Junior brings a lot of energy and ability to the team, especially in our system he has a great understanding of the positions we ask him to play so he really is able to stand out in that aspect, but we always want our players to keep improving and with Junior it is no different.’

Tomkinson was full of praise of Junior Silva and recognises exactly what he brings to his side week in week out, however, he would like to see Silva add more goal contributions to his game and improve his decision-making in the final third in order to add another element to his already impressive game.

‘Junior must start looking to get more goals and assists. He gets into good positions but sometimes rushes in the final third. He just needs to add that little bit of composure when he does get into those positions on the pitch.’

‘I am aware that with time that composure will come to him and so he will be able to add more contributions each week. He is another player we have that with a bit more time and training could make that next step up in his career, and he definitely has the attributes to do so.’
