Following a dramatic end to the 2021/22 season for Manchester Central, we now switch our attention to the new and upcoming season, where the club will look to stamp down their authority in Division One of the Manchester Football League.

Let’s look at five key things you need to know as we head into the new season.

DIVISION ONE FOOTBALL FOR CENTRAL

In what was a rollercoaster year for Central in Division Two last season, it ended in pure joy as they were able to clinch promotion to Division One at the eleventh hour in the final game of the season.

We can now look forward to seeing this talented and exciting group of players raise their performance in a new league, in which every game, they will need to push just that little bit harder in their search for success.

FAMILIAR OPPOSITION DESPITE A NEW LEAGUE

Although Manchester Central have new opposition to look forward to facing in the 22/23 season, they will be accompanied by familiar foes from their previous campaign of league football.

Joining Central from Division Two will be Bolton United, Bolton Borough, AFC Monton, Avro Reserves, Avenue and Hindley Juniors.

Chris Tomkinson’s side are heading into a unique year of league action, with a league split between familiar opponents and opposition that they have yet to face in competitive league football.

LEAGUE START DATE ANNOUNCED

The date for the first round of league action in the 2022/23 season has been announced by the Manchester Football League.

Mark your calendars as the league campaign kicks off on Saturday the 13th of August, with fixtures yet to be confirmed.

Manchester Central will look to get their season off to a flying start where they will seek to hold their own against a league full of opponents with quality.

NEW HOME FOR CENTRAL IN THE 2022/23 SEASON

It has been confirmed that Manchester Central will have a new location for home games this year, departing from their previous home of Wright Robinson College.

Central will now host games in Division One at the Seashells Trust Academy School, where they will look to build on a solid foundation that was set by their exceptional home form last season.

It is unclear as to how Central will adjust to a new home pitch. However, if last year is anything to go by, this team are no strangers to making it incredibly tough for teams to triumph on their turf.

CENTRAL TO UP FITNESS AND QUALITY LEVELS

Despite what can be called a successful season, there is no question that Central need to raise their level in every aspect if they wish to have similar success in the upcoming season.

There is no doubt that Chris Tomkinson will push his players to come into the new season in top shape if he wants his side to get off to a good start in Division One.

If they can do this, Central will be better than they were last season, and that is exciting for those following Central’s progress across the year.
