Manchester Central got 2023 underway in flying fashion with a 2-0 home win against 6th-placed Atrincham Hale. Chris Tomkinson's side will be looking to continue their winning ways this Saturday afternoon as second-bottom side Hindley Juniors visit Seashell Trust.
A stylish brace by Junior Silva secured all three points for Central in the new year at the first time of asking, instantly banishing the poor form that had plagued the side since the White's 5-0 win over Wilmslow Albion in mid-September.
Whilst Central struggled in the closing stages of 2022, with a strong run of form early on in the season keeping Tomkinson's side mid-table in MFL One despite the 16-week-long winless streak, few can fear the floundering suffered by Hindley Juniors thus far.
This weekend's visitors, who sit in 13th place and just one point from the relegation spot, have not seen taken all three points since their 4-1 win over Bolton United in their second game of the season. That makes last weekend their 20th winless week.
That said, Hindley, who were promoted from MFL Division Two alongside Manchester central following their 7th place finish, currently hold 9 points having beaten Bolton Lads and Girls Club on their first game of 2022/23 and also seeing draws against Wilmslow Albion and Altrincham Hale (twice).
Despite having seen losses in 8 of their 13 games so far, 4 of which have come in away games, the visitors are not one to go down without a fight. Whilst Hindley have only netted 18 goals, there have only been 4 games where they have failed to score.
Thus, ones to watch includes Tom Jackson, who averages a goal a game for Juniors, writing his name on the scoresheet 7 times in as many games, whilst Brandon Blades and Dillan Rowland also boast particularly impressive numbers with 5 and 4 goals in 10 and 5 games, respectively.

However, it is the visitor's defence that impresses. Hindley have conceded just 33 goals this season, just one more than 5th placed Avenue who boast 26 points.
Whilst this is still 5 more than the 28 that have struck the back of Danny Whiting's net, this statistic suggests that Hindley are a team that see scorelines settled by tight margins and that can become a threat should their attacking line be decidedly potent on a particular day.
Seashell Trust could witness a particularly competitive game this Saturday afternoon as Central look to kickstart their season against a side looking to claw their way to safety, join us at 15:00 to see the action unfold.
