‘We’ll take every game as it comes, game by game, we have five big games coming up, playing the away match against Astley & Tyldesley and then four massive home games after that, we will take it game by game, goal by goal and keep trying to keep those clean sheets each week.’

Despite the resounding home victory on Saturday, Captain Elliot Regan was visibly not complacent following such a dominant win. He was adamant that Manchester Central remain focused and take each week as it comes, without focusing too much on what is to come. As we caught up with the skipper after the game, he reiterated that the team weren’t necessarily thinking about promotion, and that they will make sure they focus on the challenges they have coming up.

He led by example as Central produced a brilliant defensive display, shutting down all attacks and retaining the ball well for the team, especially in the first half. The home side were assured and composed both on the ball and off, and it showed as Central were producing sustained attacks throughout the match, not even giving a sniff to the visitors. Regan mentioned how the formation has helped such defensive performances in recent games and how they have managed to remain solid and compact when under pressure.

‘The back three we have had for the last three games have been nice and solid, we’ve got a nice formation there now that has been used for the last games and it's helped that we’ve been at home’

The Captain was clearly pleased with the team's cohesion and togetherness in this recent period and it has been showing on the pitch with the performances of the team, and despite all the focus being on the amount of goals being scored at the other end of the pitch, the back five have been mightily impressive only conceding two goals in the last three matches, and in comparison to the previous three before that where the team conceded ten goals in that time, it is an impressive improvement and one that the Captain hopes continues when Manchester Central visit Astley & Tyldesley for the return fixture.
