After a tough few league fixtures for Central and the end of the season slowly approaching, we decided to catch up with the Gaffer to see what he thinks of the recent form, the remaining fixtures and fresh faces in the squad.
The first topic of conversation was this weekends fixture and what Chris is expecting from the game. Central will host Boothstown and the 2 sides are yet to face each-other this season despite there only being 6 games left in the league.
"Another tough game as they all are, we haven't played Boothstown so far this season but from previous games in years gone by they're always a solid outfit and it will be a tough game. Hopefully we can perform better than we have been doing."
Next on the agenda is a topic which i'm sure Chris would have seen coming from a mile away. Central haven't managed to find the back of the net in any of their last 6 league games, but as shown this season in both the league and the cup, the squad is packed with ability, therefore we wanted to find out what the gaffer put the barren goal-scoring form down to.
"We have the quality to score but it just hasn't seemed to click recently for one reason or another. Hopefully we can create some chances this weekend and get on the scoresheet as it's been far too long in the league, confidence is the main thing really, once we get that back i'm sure the goals will start flowing again."

But on the positive side, Central welcomed three strong additions to the side last weekend including a previous Central starter and holding midfielder - Elvis Amoakwa. The other two are right back Ben Langley, who gave a solid display on his debut. As well as, defender or midfielder Josh Holt who also gave a great account of himself in the defeat against a side comfortably top of the table. Therefore, we wanted to know what Chris thought of the new additions and how they can help out in the closing stages of the season.
"All three lads did great. Josh and Ben have come with good pedigree and been rated to us, and they were thrown in to the game last week. And Elvis we all know he's a big character and one that will improve us between now and the end of the season, just like Ben and Josh so we are delighted to have them."
Lastly, we wanted to find out what Chris will be saying to his players, as well as expecting from them in the remainder of the season. Central sit eighth in the league with no real possibility of promotion or relegation, but also have another cup to aim for, which kicks off on the 25th March.
"To try and show us what they can actually do, we've seen it in glimpses but not consistently so hopefully they can find that in-between now and the end of the season. And also to do what we ask them to do and hopefully we can get some points, as well as aiming to have a good cup run that's what the lads should be looking. In one-off games we can trouble anyone so hopefully we can in the cup."
It may be doom and gloom for Central at the moment in the league, but their recent display in a cup final showed what we already know they are capable of. So, hopefully the boys can kick on starting this weekend and finish the season with their heads held high.
